
27-year-old Angelita Ponce is a multi-talented musician known for her charismatic presence and wide-ranging musical abilities.
Her drumming is rooted in pop/rock, R&B, and Latin styles. Angelita’s musical journey spans a variety of genres, reflecting her versatility and deep passion for rhythm. Notably, she has graced the stage with iconic tenor Andrea Bocelli at the Phoenix Footprint Center for his 30th Anniversary tour. She has played in supporting acts for renowned artists like Ricky Montgomery, Palehound, Small Crush, Hot Freaks, and Dante Elephante.
She regularly collaborates with an array of emerging indie artists, including: Marloma, AJ Odneal, Viridian, Izzy Mahoubie, Lunes, and Kaili Orcutt.


As a percusionista, bombera y timbalera,
She regularly plays with traditional Puerto Rican groups such as Orgullo Boricua and Grupo BombAzo. As a timbalera, she performs with the celebrated salsa group, Carmela y Más. She recently started her own Chicano Soul/Cumbia project called, Lunes, and is the drummer and percussionist for that group as well.
Promoting positive messaging about hispanic culture and engaging in these communities is a core principle of Angelita's work.


As a classically trained percussionist, Angelita studied at Arizona State University under the direction of Michael Compitello, J.B. Smith, Simone Manusco, Shaun Tilburg and Dom Moio. She received her Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Percussion Performance in 2020 and 2022. She regularly performs with classical ensembles such as The West Valley Symphony and Phoenix Brass Collective.
Angelita has performed with several theater companies within the Maricopa Community Colleges and the Arizona State University MTO. She has been the drummer and percussionists for various musicals such as: Head Over Heels; Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812; Miss You Like Hell; Sister Act; Little Women and Anything Goes.
Angelita performed as a Concerto Soloist with the Arizona State University Philharmonia. Together, they performed Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra by Sergei Golovko.
